I DON’T WANT TO SAY IT’S HARD FOR A NEW FLY ROD TO IMPRESS ME THESE DAYS, BUT TO SOME DEGREE….IT REALLY KIND OF IS.
Does that mean I’m still not excited to cast a flashy new stick of graphite and don’t think that many of them really are pretty awesome. Not at all. With all the various technologies that go into fly rods these days- even with the mid priced offerings- we as anglers have it pretty much made in the shade when it comes to finding a fly rod that suits our needs and wallet.
The R.L. Winston Rod Company in Twin Bridges, Montana, leading manufacturer of the world’s finest fly rods utilizing Boron III technology, is extremely pleased to announce Rio Marié Lodge, as the newest fly fishing lodge to be selected as a WINSTON PREFERRED LODGE®.
The R.L. Winston Rod Company is very pleased to announce that Mia Sheppard has joined the Winston Field Advisor team. Two time world champion spey caster, accomplished guide, conservationist, upland bird hunter, skier and mother, Mia grew up in Tennessee, chasing trout and hiking the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains. Fly fishing caught her attention in 1996 and in 2001, Marty Sheppard, her husband, introduced her to spey casting, and connecting with steelhead. Together they purchased Little Creek Outfitters, guiding anglers into steelhead, trout and smallmouth bass on Oregon Rivers.
The R.L. Winston Rod Company is delighted to announce that Jim Murphy, well known fly fishing industry leader, has joined the Company as a member of the Winston sales team.
Jim has been a product and business developer in the fly market for over 25 years. He founded three brands: Redington, Albright and Douglas. He also served as President of Hardy North America. He brings an experienced perspective of the market and its future direction to his duties at Winston. Jim will be working on the sales programs in the export and southeastern US markets. As a member of the Winston team Jim will also be working on special business development projects. He lives in Stuart, Florida with his wife, Tess and enjoys his four boys’ adventures as anglers and adults.
WINSTON ENERGY FLY LINES. A new approach to fly line design.
Winston Energy fly lines were designed utilizing an entirely new scientific approach and state of the art analytics to enhance the energy transfer between the rod and line. By measuring the dynamic characteristics of fly rods at various flex points, we’ve applied an engineered system to precisely design lines that are ideal for each rod weight. The result is a series of lines that perfectly match the performance characteristics of today’s fly rods, and provide anglers with optimized line control, accuracy and, most importantly, presentation. Available in WF 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 for Trout. WF 8 for Salt.
THE LIGHTEST, FINEST PERFORMING FLY ROD WE’VE EVER MADE.
Introducing the Winston AIR. A new line of super premium, ultra-lightweight, all around fly rods which break boundaries in performance. These new Winston AIR rods feature new materials and a revolutionary new design. The combination of our new SuperSilica™ resin system with high modulus Boron means significantly less weight, more liveliness, an even wider casting range, and higher responsiveness for optimum presentation. These rods provide an amazingly smooth transition of power with any length of cast and incredible responsiveness and flex without feeling stiff.
